However, high-profile failures—such as IBM Watson for Oncology’s incorrect treatment recommendations—demonstrate the risks of over-relying on data-driven AI models without human oversight. This project explores the critical distinction between data-driven and data-informed decision-making in healthcare, highlighting the urgent need for federal regulations and ethical AI governance to ensure patient safety.
